TaeKwonDo

Tae Kwon Do originated in Korea after World War II, when various martial arts schools (Kwans) began to unify native Korean fighting styles such as Taekkyeon and Subak with influences from karate and Chinese martial arts. In 1955, a committee of masters officially adopted the name Tae Kwon Do, meaning “the way of the foot and the hand,” to represent a uniquely Korean martial art emphasizing powerful kicks and disciplined technique.

Training in Tae Kwon Do offers numerous physical benefits, including improved strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and cardiovascular health. Just as importantly, it cultivates mental and emotional growth, building confidence, self-control, respect, focus, and perseverance. Together, these qualities help practitioners develop both body and mind, reflecting the true spirit of Tae Kwon Do: harmony between physical skill and moral character.
